From the Bus Driver’s Seat: 5 Things You Can Only See From Up Here

I see the city from a completely different angle every day — the driver’s seat. It’s not just a place to operate the bus, but a front-row seat to everyday life. While passengers are absorbed in their own journeys, the view from here tells a whole different story. Today, I’m sharing five things you can only notice when you’re driving a city bus.

1. The True Behaviour on the Road

From this seat, you see the real face of traffic. Drivers who speed through a red light at the last second, lane changers who seem to forget indicators exist, and those who treat their side mirrors as tools for fixing their hair — it’s a never-ending road drama.

2. Passengers’ Untold Stories

Every passenger carries their own story. Some are on the phone for the entire ride, as though giving

live commentary to the world. Others doze off the moment they find a seat, as if they’ve boarded a sleeper bus. Then there are the quiet ones, writing in a notebook or gazing out the window, lost in thought.

3. How Weather Changes Everything

Rain instantly changes the mood on the bus — some passengers are cheerful, while others grumble if they have to sit on a damp seat. In summer, seats near the AC are the first to go. In winter, people gravitate towards the windows to soak up the sun.

4. The Kindness That Often Goes Unseen

Small acts of kindness happen on the bus every day. Someone offers their seat to an elderly passenger. Another helps a child with their backpack. These small gestures may go unnoticed, but they make the city feel a little warmer.

5. The Changing Face of the City

Even on the same route, the city changes daily. New shops open, old buildings get a fresh coat of paint, and sometimes a bright piece of street art appears overnight. During festivals and events, entire streets turn into celebrations.

Closing:

From my driver’s seat, I read a new chapter of the city every day. These moments aren’t just entertainment — they’re reminders that every trip has something new to discover and learn. Next time you take a bus, remember — you’re also part of the city’s story.
