Life Behind the Wheel: Passengers, Respect, and Funny Chaos

Image
Driving a bus is not so much a matter of a route a matter of dealing with people. There are polite and courteous passengers every day, and others who break rules or even abuse drivers verbally for no seeming reason. Story: A few passengers wish the driver greetings, thank him, and are respectful. Others don't make eye contact, are quiet, or are rude. Some come in without a ticket and don't even request permission. Being respectful goes a long way, but not everybody opts for it. Funny Moments from the Road: • At some bus stops, passengers are glued to their cell phones. Even when the bus is coming, hands remain down. Only after the bus passes do frantic waves begin. This can make braking hard, especially with traffic speeding behind the bus.m • Sometimes, passengers attempt to bring on oversized items such as a big bag or even a miniature chair with predictable commotion as others look on and chuckle. • Some travellers feign not seeing the bus approaching, then pretend to be sur...

From My Bus Window: Robots Take the Field, Crabs Steal the Show

Image
I'm behind the wheel most of the day, observing the city go by. In between shifts, I enjoy getting updated on the world beyond my route. Two headlines caught my attention today—one from the future, one right out of nature's handbook. Robots Are Now Playing Sports Right before I headed out for my second run this morning , I was reading the news and came across something that seemed like it was right out of a science fiction movie: Beijing is holding the inaugural World Humanoid Robot Sports Games.  Picture this an entire stadium full of robots running, jumping, and competing. It's the Olympics, without snack breaks or bathroom lines. It made me think: if robots can run and throw, how long will it be before one learns the art of bus driving? A Purple Crab Is Stealing Hearts Later, during a lull before returning to the depot, I found another story, this one from Thailand. A rare Sirindhorn Crab, with a vibrant purple-and-white shell, was seen in a national park. The pictures ...

August 31 Protest in Australia: Police Safety Tips for Immigrants and Minority Communities

From the Bus Driver’s Seat: 5 Things You Can Only See From Up Here

Image
I see the city from a completely different angle every day — the driver’s seat. It’s not just a place to operate the bus, but a front-row seat to everyday life. While passengers are absorbed in their own journeys, the view from here tells a whole different story. Today, I’m sharing five things you can only notice when you’re driving a city bus. 1. The True Behaviour on the Road From this seat, you see the real face of traffic. Drivers who speed through a red light at the last second, lane changers who seem to forget indicators exist, and those who treat their side mirrors as tools for fixing their hair — it’s a never-ending road drama. 2. Passengers’ Untold Stories Every passenger carries their own story. Some are on the phone for the entire ride, as though giving live commentary to the world. Others doze off the moment they find a seat, as if they’ve boarded a sleeper bus. Then there are the quiet ones, writing in a notebook or gazing out the window, lost in thought. 3. How Weather Ch...

Title: Free Sports Training for Every Child in Australia – A Step Towards a Safer Future

Image
Title: Free Sports Training for Every Child in Australia – A Step Towards a Safer Future The Problem: Crime rates in Australia are rising, and many offenders are very young, often jobless or homeless. Without positive activities and guidance, more youth are falling into the wrong path. The Solution: In some countries, the government provides free training in almost every sport, with qualified coaches and no cost to families. This keeps children active, disciplined, and focused on building a better future. Parents feel proud to see their kids learning skills and staying away from harmful habits. In Australia, sports training often comes with high fees, which many parents cannot afford. As a result, kids spend more time on phones or TV, leading to poor health, bad habits, and sometimes disrespectful behaviour at home. Why This Matters: - Mental Health Benefits: Sports help improve mental health by reducing stress and giving kids a positive way to cope with challenges. - Community Bu...

Driving a Bus in Perth vs India – My Honest Comparison

Image
๐ŸšŒ How Driving a Bus in Perth is Different from India - My Honest Comparison  When I first moved from India to Australia, I already had driving experience — but driving a bus in Perth was a completely new adventure. Here’s my honest comparison between the two countries, based on my real-life experience behind the wheel. 1. Traffic & Road Discipline Perth: Drivers follow lane discipline, maintain speed limits, and respect bus lanes. Honking is rare. India: Roads are often crowded, with mixed traffic — buses, bikes, autos, and sometimes even animals! Honking is commons 2. Passenger Behaviour Perth: Passengers queue up, greet the driver, and often say “Thank you” when getting off. India: Many passengers rush to get in, and greeting the driver is rare — though some regulars do smile and chat. 3. Bus Technology Perth: Modern buses with air-conditioning, digital ticketing (SmartRider), CCTV, and automatic announcements. India: Many buses are still basic, with con...

BusLifePerth…

๐ŸšŒ **A Day in My Life – Bus Driver in Australia** Life as a bus driver in Australia is not simple — but it is disciplined and respectful. Today, I want to take you through a typical day in my routine here in Perth. ☀️ **Morning – 5:15 AM** I wake up at 5:15 in the morning. The alarm goes off, and sometimes I don’t feel like getting out of bed immediately — but I have to get up on time for duty. I drink a glass of warm water, then take my blood pressure medicine. I do some light stretching to get my body active. ๐Ÿž **Breakfast Time – 5:45 AM** I keep my breakfast simple — brown bread with peanut butter, or sometimes a boiled egg. I don’t like driving with a full stomach. ๐ŸšŒ **First Shift – 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM** I take the bus out from the depot — by now I have memorized almost all the routes.   Passengers are mostly polite — saying “Good morning, driver!” is part of the culture here, which I really like. Traffic in the morning is light, so the first shift goes smoothly. ☕ **Br...
